Wonderful experience, love the colors and the wildness and the surprise. One small correction to the literature. There are other canyons in the US deeper than Palo Duro (not to take anything away from this wonderful place). The Bruneau River canyon in Idaho is 1,200 feet deep in places, the Jarbidge River canyon is 1000 feet deep where it flows into the Bruneau (from Wikipedia). Thanks again! John T

First 9 years of my life lived in Amarillo. I always remember Palo Duro Canyon. My dad used to take me and my siblings fairly often. Most of dad's side of family from Colorado and I loved the mountains but I also loved Palo Duro Canyon. I feel lucky to have grown up so close to the Canyon. I saw the first production of TEXAS in the late 60's. I need to come back and see that again. I have lived in Montgomery Alabama most of my life but AMARILLO IS HOME!

Took a side trip to the Canyon after spending time at Texas Tech family weekend and was truly taken aback by the beauty of this place. Absolutely stunning views and a wonderful time was had by all.
